ST. JOSEPH’S SCHOOL – ABU DHABI REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2011-2012
Distinguished chief guest of the day, H.H Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, our guests of honour H.E Bishop Paul Hinder and Dr.Mohammad Saeed Al Kindi, Mr. & Mrs. Sundeer members of Adec, board of Governors, reverend fathers, Sisters, principals, parents, well wishers , ladies and gentlemen. I extend a warm welcome to each one of you to the 44th Annual Day celebration of this esteemed institution.
I take this opportunity to present before you a brief report of the activities of the school for the year 2010-2011.
The School activities commenced in April with the school parliament election. St. Joseph’s School was filled with thrill and exhilaration on April 28th 2011 with the Investiture ceremony. The event was honoured by the presence of our Chief Guest Mrs. Jane Truscott –School Development Section Manager, from ADEC
Talents Day was kept up on June. The students came out with innovative ideas and performed very well.
Another exciting event for the school in May was the declaration of the CBSE results of Std XII.
31 students appeared for Science Stream and 35 for Commerce stream
In the Science stream 81% secured distinction and rest secured first class.
In the Commerce stream 66% secured distinction and rest secured first class.

It is with great pride that we wish to announce that out of the 66 students who appeared for the Std XII CBSE Examination 9 of our students were awarded Certificate of Merit for their outstanding performance in English , Physics and Chemistry for being top percent of successful candidates of the All India Secondary School Examination 2010.
STD X RESULTS: 74 students appeared for the Examination and we secured cent percent results.
10 students secured A1 with grade point 10.0 in all 5 subjects.
This achievement is mainly due to the combined effort of the students, dedication and selfless service of the teachers and with the support and cooperation of the parents.
The leaders of our nature club ‘VERTE’” were invested during the environment day celebrations which was held June 5th 2011.
Our students do equally well in Curricular as well as Extra curricular Activities: the students are given diverse opportunities to display their talents in various fields. Our quiz teams took part in the Brain Hunt Quiz.
In the Sastra Pratibha conducted by Science India Forum many of our students achieved A+ & A Grade.
In the spelling Bee Competition conducted by the Maars International Bee. Our students are selected for the inter school level in different categories.
For the second consecutive year St.Joseph’s School won the trophy & certificate of Excellence for the Best in Waste Management by being part of the Sustainable School’s Initiative launched by the Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi.
Our students participated in the Spring Fiesta dance and speech competition at the American College of Dubai and Schnelle Natasha Felix of class 9 A and Rochelle Dominique Nazareth of class 12 B won the runners up trophy for the Extempore speech.
Many of our students took part in the Innovative Development Education Aptitude (IDEA), a Talent Search Contest on 17th June 2011, & won many prizes.
Students attended the Abu Dhabi International Hunting Exhibition on Wednesday 14th September 2011 conducted at ADNEC and took part in the Environment Agency Quiz and bagged the 2nd place.
Students participated in Abu Dhabi Islands Clean up campaign by ADGAS held on 17th September 2011& received certificates.
Students attended a 5 hours session on ‘Train the Brain’ given by Mr. Akbar Hussain from Limra Academy for Excellence.
15 students won the prize for Kerry gold School Competition.
Students of Std IX & X got to visit the planetarium.

Students of grade 10 took part in the elocution competition conducted by the Emirates Environmental Group.
Naeema Ali of grade 12 took part in the Smart India Genius Assembly.
Our students collected 46 Kgs of cans for Can collections Day.
Students of IV & V took part in the TIMS & PIRLS TEST conducted by ADEC.
To help make Science learning among children fun and interesting - students of Std IV visited the Sony Science Show conducted by Mr. Sochi Nishimura, a renowned Scientific Entertainer from Japan, at Abu Dhabi National Theater.
In their quest to keep the environment Germ free ‘A Lifebuoy Hygiene Drive’ was conducted by Wide Angle.
The students visited the Gulf stamp Exhibition on 07th April 2011.
We regularly conduct the Gulf Olympiad in maths and physics. Our students also participate in the global achievement test in English and mathematics conducted by the Australian council for educational research. Many students have received certificates of distinction.
Macadamia – an educational organization visited our school to enlighten our XI & XII Grade students to realize their dream of entering top-notch engineering and medical college in India.
Teachers and students attended a Workshop conducted by Professor Christopher on Time Management and Teaching excellence for the 21st century.
We regularly conducted the Gulf Olympiad in Maths, Physics & Chemistry and our students annually participate in the Global Achievement tests in English, Maths and Science conducted by the Australian Council for Educational Research. Many students receive certificates of distinction. Practically the whole school takes part in the Enviro-Spellaton test organized by the Environment agency, Abu Dhabi.
Our students participated in the CBSE Interschool Athletic Meet for girls conducted by the Abu Dhabi Indian School. IN the Junior category Divan and Gayathri of 9th grade won the 2nd place for badminton.
The art and craft exhibition was held on Saturday, November 12th
Every day of school life is a unique day. One cannot enumerate everyone of these experiences.
We extend our heart felt gratitude to our late President H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayan and our benevolent President Sheikh Khalifa for their graciousness and support to us. We wish them all success in this great country which celebrates its 40th National Day.
I pray that God grant us all, administrators, teachers and parents, foresight, patience and the strength to carry out this very noble task of forming and preparing our children for a better future.

We thank Our Manager Bishop Paul Hinder, Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Kindi, and Board of Governors for their valuable guidance and support for the smooth running of the School .I would like to express my thanks to Dr. B.R. Shetty for regularly sponsoring the Gold Medals for our CBSE toppers. Due to his unforeseen commitment he was unable to be with us this evening.
